Jilly’s quite possibly the biggest rock club in Manchester and on Friday nights it lives up to this reputation. It’s open and licensed from 9pm till 7am with a reasonable entry price for those hours. This club brings you the best of rock from a variety of angles. Room 1, Underworld, brings you Alternative 80’s, Metal and Goth even throwing in the occasional Punk classic. Room 2, The Main Room, brings a smattering of everything from Nu-Metal, Old and New Punk to Hip-Hop and Dance. Room 3, The Fishbowl, is for all you people into the classic side of rock. Here you are likely to hear the classic stadium rock artist such as Guns N Roses, Iron Maiden etc. Room 4 is where you go for your typical Ska, Punk, Emo, Hardcore and Indie music. There really is something here for anyone into their rock.
You are also certain to meet the most interesting people in Jilly’s as there’s no proper dress code people come dressed in all sorts of fancy dress. Sometimes there’s no reason for it but they are all extremely nice people. In the three years I’ve been going there I’ve never had a problem. Even the bouncers are fun. The prices are a bit expensive at an average of £3 for a bottle but if you look hard enough you will finds the offers. Despite this fact the music more than overcompensates for the price. It really is an experience like no other and one you must have while in Manchester.
