5th Avenue (Weekdays - Mon, Wed, Thurs)

When you first go to 5th Ave, it blows your mind. I remember thinking it was the best place ever. I wanted to go every week. I found the music agreeable and the drinks prices even more agreeable, so much so that that first night there is a bit of a blur of lights, shouting and deafening indie. I got kicked out of 5th Ave once as well, and that was funny. Long story though.

After a few return trips I began to see cracks. Big ones. For those of a single disposition there are nowhere near enough women to make "scoring" possible, as it's like 12 deep to a girl. For girls, it's irritating to be harassed constantly by drunken fools (I should know, I asked one just now). The DJ tends to stick to a strict play list EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, so unless you're too drunk to care about the tunes you're the only person who hasn't noticed. It also gets really hot, and really crowded. You find yourself glugging £1 alcopops that you know you shouldn't have bought but the bar's too far away to go get a different one so you have to make do, no friends in sight cos they went to the bog and never came back, and as Morrissey so eloquently put it (seeing as it is 5th Ave, the temple of "Indie"): "So you go and stand on your own, and you leave on your own, and you go home, and you cry and you want to die". Maybe that's a bit extreme.

Price-wise and if you get there early 5th Ave's a good laugh. Monday's and Wednesdays are a jolly-good jaunt, and if you get bladdered then it's even better. Shots are 80p (Impressive) and bottles are £1.00. Seeing as this is all 5th Ave sells then it's a good night on the wallet, if you can stomach the shortcomings.
